About me

The primary through line of my career – from my academic research in cognitive neuroscience, to my work in instruction and assessment design, and through my UX research career – has been my deep interest in our minds.

How does the brain function?

How do we measure cognitive capabilities?

How do we create useful experiences centered around user minds?

I began my journey in academia, conducting research on the relationship between sleep and memory, developing and instructing various undergraduate courses, and writing my PhD dissertation. While I am still deeply fascinated by the biology behind sleep, memory, and learning, I soon moved out of the academic environment to pursue a career in which I could see more immediate and tangible impacts of my work.

I happened upon a role at Imbellus, a tech startup developing game-based cognitive assessments. While there, I wore several hats: I leveraged my behavioral science expertise to advise stakeholders on learning science principles, utilized my experience in instructional and assessment design to guide the tutorialization and scoring of tests, and applied my scientific training to user research, systematically and directly analyzing the user-product relationship to inform design improvement.

When Imbellus was acquired, I began my freelance career of UX research, assessment design, and behavioral science consulting. After several fascinating projects conducting assessment development research at Roblox, conceptualizing hiring assessments at McKinsey & Company, and working on a career-planning app at Inspirante, I began conducting UX research at BrainPOP, where I have been running a variety of both qualitative and quantitative studies on product usage and improvement.

I’m currently looking for another project to continue my exciting trajectory in UX research, behavioral science, and education. I'm currently open to full-time roles, contract projects, and any and all conversations. Feel free to reach out; I’d be happy to meet you and excited to hear about what you're working on!
